Questions

As we have been visiting homes in Chatteris to introduce ourselves, we have been asked various questions. Here are some examples of things we have been asked, together with our responses:

Q. Are you connected to the Jehovah’s Witnesses?

A. No! We are a Christian church who believe that Jesus Christ is God the Son, a member of the Holy Trinity — God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit. Jehovah’s Witnesses do not consider themselves to be Christians, do not believe in the Holy Trinity, or that Jesus Christ is fully God. For a full explanation of What We Believe, please see that page on this website.

Q. Do you acknowledge other churches?

A. Yes! We have much in common with other churches such as Presbyterian, Congregational, Methodist, Church of England and The Salvation Army. We are Baptists and are members of the Grace Baptist Association (West Anglia) which includes churches in Cambridgeshire (Cambridge City, March, Needingworth, Over, Ramsey, Warboys, Whittlesey) as well as Deeping (in Lincolnshire) and Potton (in Bedfordshire).

Q. If you’re a proper church, why don’t you have a church building?

For us, the Church is the group of Christians who meet together, not where they meet. However, we are a formally constituted Church, with a full-time Minister, Church Officers, Church Constitution and Statement of Faith, and we are a registered charity. We would like to own our own building, as it would enable us to do much more for the community of Chatteris. However, so far we have been unable to find a suitable property. That’s why we are currently holding our services in Room 2 of The King Edward Centre, which is a great place to meet, but which isn’t always available for hire outside of our normal service times.

If you want to know more about us, why not come along to our 10:30 a.m. Sunday Service, and also find out more about Jesus Christ, the Saviour of mankind, whom we love and serve?

If you have a question concerning Christianity, or us as a Church, you can always forward that question to our Pastor using the Contact page, For a full explanation of What We Believe, please see that page on our site.
